The chicken houses are 500 feet long and have fans which constantly
move air through the building to keep the chickens cool.
Ed and Michele
chat with
Larry Mesimer,
the owner of
Mesimer Farms.
Each chicken house holds about 11,000 chickens:
10,000 hens and 1,000 roosters.
The eggs are transported by conveyor belts to a collection area
where they are manually sorted and stacked on trays.
The eggs are placed on
racks and transported to
a hatchery which will
incubate them until the
chicks are born.  These
eggs are all used to
make more chickens.

Our thanks go out to
Larry for the tour of
his incredible facility!
Kip, Michele and Ed had the priviledge of
touring a chicken farm near Davidson, NC.
