The war with Iraq has caused the Army to be pretty short-handed, so
Navy Reservists are being called up to serve as Customs Inspectors.  
Almost all the troops and equipment leaving Iraq must go through
Customs in Kuwait before they are sent home.
In 2007, Kip spent about seven months in
Kuwait serving as a Customs Inspector.
Aside from the oil in the Middle East, I can't figure out why
anybody would want to live there.

It was not unusual for us to find live ammunition while inspecting a tank or armored
personnel carrier.  The Army was supposed to have all this stuff cleaned out.
